Berwick Plates

Post  Admin69 on Tue Jun 24, 2008 11:30 pm

As most of you may know, Berwick council is being amalgamated with other councils including Blyth Valley and Wansbeck, it begs the question, what are the implications of this ? scratch

accountability

Post  fred on Tue Jun 24, 2008 11:36 pm

Just because Berwick council will no longer exist, I think they should still be accountable for what they are doing now, but i suspect they dont give a jack sh*t

Berwick plates

Post  Joe King on Sun Jun 29, 2008 11:08 pm

Berwick plates, what a joke, they should be called "hack where you want plates", as long as you pay Berwick Council their dosh !!!!! Being serious, i would like to know how Berwick can deal with complaints about their Hacks, when they are spread all over the country, i mean things like not displaying plates etc properly and also of course illegally plying for hire. I here a Berwick Bandit recently got captured in Whitley Bay, but is still driving the streets, i assume Berwick Council will take action after the driver has been to court and dealt with accordingly, or then again maybe they will take the attitude, its not up to us (we just want the money), yes, it sucks !!!!

P.S. 3 cheers to North Tyneside Councils enforcement officers for being out there doing their job and catching the above mentioned driver illegally hacking. Smile

Got an email from the editor of this online news site for newcastle http://newcastlecentric.com/news/newcastle-gridlocked-over-flimping

He thought TooManyTaxis had posted one of the comments. as it happens we hadn't but it was still a good read although He got his facts a bit mixed up, thinking that the Newcastle hacks protesting around the Toon were in the act of Flimpin, thus causing gridlock. Anyway he was put right by a commenter and I explained things to him in a bit more detail. Still, I think people who are not clued up on the complexities of the Taxi trade should maybe think a bit before deciding to get involved in the politics of it all.

The Grand Finale is closer than we think!

Post  central enthusiast on Wed Jul 23, 2008 6:52 pm

I hear today that if NEWCASTLE COUNCIL win their case mid September, Berwick will issue no more Badges or Plates to anyone outside there Council!
GOOD!
There appears to be a massive influx of Iranians obtaining Berwick Bandit Badges, one more has started Central this week, Enjoy your short career as a Taxi Driver boys!!!!

Grand Finale

Post  fred on Wed Jul 23, 2008 11:40 pm

Surely the Berwick Bandits will simply get their vehicles licensed by North Tyneside as private hires, any who have black cars will have extra hassle of course, and there might well be a sudden rush of cars wanting testing.

Post  central enthusiast on Thu Jul 24, 2008 12:22 pm

If these foreign folk don't know where Tynemouth is or how to get there, then how can they pass one of these defunct Locality tests of NT???
So a fair few will be off the road!
And what about the Drivers who have lost their NT Badge because of conduct, what about the ones that cannot get a NT badge because of their past???
BUT ALL ARE LICENSED BY BERWICK!
Where will they go without Berwick??????????
They can only punch "Jobcentre" into their SATNAVS for the last time!
Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrh!
I reckon 30% of Berwick Bums will be off the road for good!
The Big Guns will loose a canny bit of revenue too!
ArrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrH!

Grand Finale

Post  bobdinnero on Thu Jul 24, 2008 7:57 pm

Don't speak too soon! I was at licensing today and there was a Polish Guy there making an application with his 'Interpreter' How can the Council expect a proper and professional Taxi service on their streets when drivers can't speak English. I can't imagine them giving me a Taxi Licence in Warsaw for the same reasons!!!!

Unfortunately if the Council say "No", get back to Berwick, our EU Brothers will play the "Race card"!!!!, if someone says no to us, we have to keep trying or do something else.
As for the new batch of Berwick bandits all being Iranian, if Newcastle Council loose there is one person who may help.........George.W.Bush, I bet he flattens Iran before he leaves power, he dishes out more Bombings than Berwick Badges!!! Twisted Evil
I am not rascist but I am sure if you ask your Parents or Grandparents if they would have got in a Taxi in "1942" and the Driver had been German, they would have jumped straight back out!
What I trying to say is the other day a Afghan Taxi driver asked me directions to Whitley Bay!, he was a pleasant geezer, but we are technically at war in his country!!!
Anyway lets get back to Taxi politics only!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WHAT'S THIS COUNTRY COMING TOO!!
I WAS A LEFTY LIBERAL UNTIL I GOT MY BADGE!!!!

Rascism!!

Post  bobdinnero on Thu Jul 24, 2008 8:35 pm

Yeah! they make you sound rascist but at the endof the day it's common sense! How can anyone expect a foreign driver to be able to carry out the duties of a Taxi Driver when he doesn't know his way around and can't speak or understand English. Yet they constantly talk about sending English Drivers, who have done it for years,on BTEC courses. The mind Boggles!!!

Many Central customers are now asking for British drivers, due to the lack of communication and the driver getting lost on a basic journey!!
I picked up a lad in the Meadowell on Sunday, I was the first Brit Driver he had in 6 weekends, his journey is simply along Waterville Rd and up Ridley Ave in Howdon, he explained that every driver he had had taken him up the A19!!, he stated that he was just about to start using Silverline!
These guys loose us custom!, anyway if he had started using Silverline he may have been picked up by Polaroid Mobster Anth!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

language barriers/cultural diversity

Post  Admin69 on Sat Jul 26, 2008 2:30 am

The forum owners have set up a strategic working group, overseen by a steering group, which reports directly to the taxi member for culture and diversity with a view to translating this site into several languages, so if anyone can help with the translation please get in touch. We envisage, Polish, Irainian, Pakistani, Hindu and Irish may be useful. Oh and we need someone who can translate gobbledegook.. any offers ?
